July/August 2010 archeryBUSINESS 11 Delta Sports Products (DSP) has announced the recent promotion of Jen Kresser to president of the 27-year-old Iowa-based target man- ufacturer. Kresser has been with the company for 16 years and will be responsible for strategic planning, corporate culture, and management of operations. The former national sales manager, Kresser succeeds DSP founder Laverne Woock, who will remain CEO until November 30, 2010. Woock will continue with the company after November as vice president of technology, emphasizing new product development. Kresser began her career in marketing before being promoted to sales, where she has spent the last 10 years serving domestic and international customers, all the while developing an avid pas-sion for bowhunting. "Jen has spent many years developing the skills needed to tackle the challenges of leading Delta into the future. Her extensive knowledge of our business, her relationships in the industry, and focus on strategic development position her and Delta for success," said Woock. "Both Jen and Laverne have done an impres-sive job building and growing DSP, and we look forward to the continued growth and leadership in the target business from Jen in her new role," said Greg Easton, president of Jas. D. Easton, Inc., parent company of DSP. "I was pleased to be on hand for the announcement to congratulate Jen in person," Assuming the position as sales manager will be Jacob Stark, former sales manager with Fiskar's Corp. Stark will be responsible for all sales func-tions in the U.S. and internationally, as well as management of the inde- pendent sales rep direction and the day-to-day sales operations. "Jake has been a great addition to DSP," said Kresser "His love of bow-hunting, his practical sales experience, and enthusiasm challenges the status quo. He will be a terri\037c asset to our sales strategy."Assisting Stark and in charge of marketing and promotions is Krista Huffman, who has been with the company for three years, most recently supporting Kresser as marketing assistant. Gross Park on Lake Guntersville in Scottsboro, Alabama, boasted a great turnout of 73 teams and 211 competitors. Par -ticipants competed for a payout of over $10,000 in prize money and $10,000 in prizes, including a 1st place check for $3,500one of the largest payouts for a bow\037shing tournament. The tour -nament started off with stormy and even tornadic weather, which eventually cleared in time for the weigh-in. Despite the storms, the participants arrowed numbers of impressive \037sh and had a great time in the process. The 1st place spot and $3,500 went to the team of Alan Yedor Jr. of Louisiana, and Josh Dunkle and Jason Gibson of Arkansas, with an amazing take of 497.2 pounds. Muzzy also awarded bows to the participants with the largest \037sh in each category. Brent Boud-ra of Arkansas earned a BowTech S.W.A.T. Bow for his 61.4-pound grass carp. Dwayne Camp- bell of South Carolina won a Mathews Outback Bow for his impressive 53.6-pound buffalo. The longest gar measured 53.5 inches and was taken by Butch Samson of Alabama, who won a Covert Trail Cam. "I'm thrilled with the results of the shoot," said Mark Land, event coordinator. "Despite the bad weather, we had an awesome turnout. The contestants brought in some impressive \037sh and everyone had a great time. I appreciate all of the volunteers and sponsors who made this event possible. I look forward to hosting another awe- some tournament next year."
