NEW BOWS PREVIEW 2012 Hoyt 78 archeryBUSINESS January February 2012 BY RICK COMBS NEW BOWS2012 PREVIEW Anyone bemoaning a decline of American technology and ingenuity isnt talking about the archery business Every year bows are tweaked tuned reincarnated and improved Every year new bows are introduced by established companies and start up operations alike with new materials new technology and new designs Heres a peek at some of the hottest new models for 2012 Hoyt Hoyt created a huge buzz in 2010 with its Carbon Matrix bow then put a lot of new technology into 2011 s Carbon Element For 2012 Hoyt introduces the Carbon Element RKT but if you think theyve simply resurrected last years Element with a new bell and whistle or two think again The Carbon Element RKT features the Rocket Cam thus the RKT designation an entirely new Cam 1 2 that is both faster and smoother than the highly touted FUEL cam that powered the original Element The brace height is just a little skinnier too at a still ample 6 inches and no doubt that also contributes to an ATA speed which at 330 fps is 7 fps faster than the original An improved in line Roller Guard and a new Pro Lock X Lite limb pocket system are also brand new Other basic specs remain unchanged including a grin inducing weight of 36 pounds axle toaxle length of 32 inches draw weights maxing out at 50 60 70 or 80 pounds draw lengths ranging from 245 inches at the shortest end to 30 inches at the longest and a wide range of available nishes In addition to the warm feel of carbon in the coldest weather some nice touches on this bow include the Silent Shelf which pads the riser shelf to eliminate noise from arrow contact or drop away rests and the unusually positioned stabilizer bushing which is offset inch to counterbalance sights quivers and other accessories With a suggested retail of 1399 this is a bow for discriminating bowhunters HOYT Carbon Element RTK
